Registering for Technorati
Posted on July 7th, 2007 3 commentsI’ve seen links asking for a referral to Technorati from a number of different blogs. I thought I would find out what it is and then sign up for it.
According to the website Technorati is:
Technorati is the leading monitor of the world of weblogs. Technorati is a real-time search engine that is the largest source of fresh information about the global and local conversations going on all across the Web. Technorati allows you to find out what people are saying about you, your company, your products, your competitors, your politics and, other areas of interest, on the Internet in real time.
Basically, they are a search engine and posting source for blogs across the web. They have a number of different widgets including this tag:
which will add my site to your favorites. When I recently signed up I added a few blogs to my Watchlist. The Watchlist shows the “Authority” that a site has (basically the number of backlinks) and your “Rank” in Technorati world which is apparently how important you are. My Authority is currently 2 and my Rank is 2,451,949. When I search for the term “blog” the results state that there are 13,763,819 blogs about blog so I’m at least in the top 20%! I guess that’s not bad after only 13 days of writing!
I’m interested to see if it will provide me with any additional readers but, since it’s a free service, at worst I’ve only lost some time tonight!
