The Pimento Challenge
Sep 7th, 2007 by Lewis 2 Comments
Before I post part 2 to my How To Create Your Own Empire I’ve got a mid-afternoon article up for discussion! I just read a funny post over at rickcaminiti.com called WTF Is a Pimento!?!?
It’s true that the average person probably has no idea what a pimento is or why it is stuck into each olive. In fact, even when you learn what it is, your brain usually drops the useless information as soon as you leave the conversation! Personally, I’m not a fan of the olive but I do appreciate a good laugh in the afternoon.
The Contest
I want to know what people think about the Pimento and to find the most creative reason why you think they are placed in olives. Please leave your comments below.
The winner, as chosen by me, will get some link-love in a future post. If that’s not worth being creative I don’t know what is! (I was going to give away a jar of olives but really, does anyone want a jar of olives mailed to them?)
Here is my expanation:
The Pimento was an illegal export back 40,000 years ago when olive pickling began. The farmers probably stuffed their contraband into the olives as a way to sneak them past the guard Mammoths.
I look forward to your opinions!
If you hate Pimentos then consider my Full Feed RSS. If you love them, I’d try this Full Feed RSS.
(so I can stay up late and keep writing)

Apparently no one cares about the Pimento.
Dude. Pimentos suck. Since I already got link love for what was apparently a lame post about olives, I’ll give it a shot.
My only guess is that somewhere around Adam and Eve time, lets call it Madaam and Steve time. There were two serpents, one called Satan and one called Santa.
As the story goes, Satan liked apples and Santa liked Peppers. Satan went on to trick Madaam and Steve into eating one of his apples, thus damning mankind into a eternal fiery hell. Santa went on to give kids of all ages and social statuses gifts of all sorts. He rode through the night on his loyal reindeer delivering presents to all.
More and more people started becoming more and more unethical and amoral… so to appease the evil Satan. At the same time, once all humans hit the ripe age of, lets say 8, they began disbelieving in Santa. Santa took note.
The only thing he could attrbute this to was the evil trickerty that Satan used to get people to eat his favorite food. Santa then ordered all elves and disfigured people to collect all the olives in the world. For some reason back then, people liked these disgusting “grape-wanna-be’s”. Everyone ate olives and no one liked peppers. Santa took all of the olives in world, including all the rights to all olives to come, and demanded that these ridiculously named peppers called PIMENTOS be stuffed inside of them.
Now everyone one would secretly be eating peppers when they ate olives. Now, for once, everyone would praise Santa. Everyone would worship the day Santa decided to introduce peppers to the Western world. That cold, dreary December 25th is still herralded this day.
Thank God for Santa.
