Seperate or Separate?

I was tagged again by Dan at dcrblogs.com in For the Sentence was Wrong and I Have Typed It Rightly. This time it was to identify the pieces of my writing that cause me the most trouble. I’m having a lot of fun with these challenges and at least this one isn’t the huge project like last time I was tagged!

My Writing Challenges

1. I have no idea what is the correct usage of Separate and/or Seperate. I’ll admit, it’s been easier since I started using Firefox because spell check rules but you’d think my mind would grasp this concept. After looking it up I know (again) that the correct word is Separate. I even tried to prove myself correct by typing in Seperate into dictionary.com. It gave me the suggestion: Separate.

2. I don’t write anything in one long flowing start-to-finish picture of perfection. My mind races from one topic to the next so I constantly find myself jumping ahead, back, middle etc. What this causes is the need to continually read for clarity and to ensure that I haven’t written the same thing more than once. What this causes is the need to continually read for clarity and to ensure that I haven’t written the same thing more than once.

3. In the past I have written as I would for a University business paper or some other thing. I need to make sure I write what I’m thinking (not what people tried to make me think) and not fill in the gaps with useless verbiage. You know, like using the word ‘verbiage’ as if it was a real word.

That’s all I have for you today Dan. The Seven P’s are coming up tomorrow!

I read Dan’s post as well. You and I have a lot of the same writing habits particularly Number 2. And you are correct verbage is not a word but verbiage is. And you are correct verbage is not a word but verbiage is.

No wonder I couldn’t find it anywhere! As you can imagine I don’t use this one very often!

PS. To everyone else, I have corrected the spelling in the post so it’s almost been erased from history!

Thanks for participating in my meme, Lewis. I have also found that Firefox has spell check. That is a useful tool for many bloggers.

I hope you didn’t stay up too late to write this post. I saw on my blog that you would blame me if you found yourself with droopy lids.

Thanks for playing. I appreciate it.

It didn’t take as long as I thought. Maybe I have too many problems and found it easy to list only three!
